Win An Apple Ipad
The Apple iPad. The name is a killing word — more than a product — it’s a statement, an idea, and potentially a prime mover in the world of consumer electronics. Before iPad it was called the Apple Tablet, the Slate, Canvas, and a handful of other guesses — but what was little more than rumor and speculation for nearly ten years is now very much a reality. Announced on January 27th to a middling response, Apple has been readying itself for what could be the most significant product launch in its history; the making (or breaking) of an entirely new class of computer for the company. The iPad is something in between its monumental iPhone and wildly successful MacBook line — a usurper to the netbook throne, and possibly a sign of things to come for the entire personal computer market… if Apple delivers on its promises. And those are some big promises; the company has been tossing around words like “magical” and “revolutionary” to describe what many have dismissed as nothing more than a larger version of its iPod touch. But is that all there is to this device? Is the hope that Apple promises for this new computing experience nothing more than marketing fluff and strategic hyperbole? Or is this a different beast altogether — a true sign that change has come to the world of the PC? We have the definitive answers to those questions (and many more) right here.

This one is by far my favorite. Feels nice in your hands. The iPad clicks in and out easily. The stand is sturdy and the clip is an extra bonus that keeps the cover closed when not in use.

I have revised my rating from a Four Star rating to One Star because of durability issues.
After only a few weeks this case has started to fall apart after normal use (by normal use, I mean that I baby the iPad)! The glue that holds the microfiber cover onto the plastic shell started to come loose. At first it looked like little bubbles under the microfiber but now nearly the whole back cover is separated from the shell. This makes me worried that it will slip and cause me to drop the iPad. Suspecting that I may just have a defective product, I searched online and to my surprise there are others with this problem. Amazon doesn’t allow links but it’s easy to find the discussion boards I found.
I will once again revisit this review if I receive a replacement BOOKSTAND case that doesn’t exhibit these same problems. Otherwise, check my reviews to see if I have found decent a folio case for my iPad.
This is the second problem I have had with Macally in purchasing this case. I originally ordered it from the Macally website because it was “In Stock” only to find out a week later that it wasn’t in stock and my order was automatically canceled. It was frustrating at the time but it would have saved me a lot of trouble if I had moved on to another case!
- Previous Four Star Review –
I originally purchased Apple’s cover but was very dissatisfied with it. Unfortunately, there haven’t been many other covers that replace the utilitarian functionality of that case. Then, I spotted the Bookstand case on Macally’s website. The only problem was that it wasn’t in production yet. Well, the wait is finally over and this case is wonderful. The typing angle is better and sharper than the Apple case. The best feature is that it doesn’t cover up any of the screen like the other case does, and if you want to remove it, you can easily snap it out.
The few things I don’t like:
1. The Color – it’s very drab. A darker grey or black for the cover and anything but the hideously dim orange on the latch would be nice.
2. The Texture – better than the apple case but it still attracts dust and debris. I’d rather have something smoother. The glue that holds the fabric is inconsistent.
3. The Back Gap – There is a gap between the back of the iPad and the plastic of the case. This doesn’t cause any problems but you can tell its there when you press on the case.
Despite a few flaws it’s the case I’m sticking with for now.

This is a terrific protective case for my iPad. I’ve looked far and wide for exactly this. Once the iPad snaps into place the flap protects the screen nicely. Because the flap has an additional hinge it is easy to set the iPad at a nice typing angle or in a way that makes it easy to watch movies. The advertising photographs demonstrate this accurately. For me this provides the perfect cover so I can put my iPad in a briefcase pocket, although I wouldn’t put it in a backpack or in anything that could potentially bend it. This case won’t provide that much protection.
So why only 4 stars? The packaging is completely unnecessary. It comes in a flimsy plastic container with roughly the same dimensions as Apple’s original iPad packaging. This plastic is neither recyclable nor can it be used for much else, and it will probably end up in a landfill. Please be more responsible about your packaging Macally.

Absolutely georgous. I was on the Apple Store waiting list for a while waiting for the apple version. Glad I saw this. Is blows the apple version away. Love the wedge for typing. Quality is beautiful. Looks like it would cost more in caparison to others I see. Very professional looking. 5 stars. Forget about the Apple version!

This case is the best. It is simple, eligant, does it’s job better than most others out in the market today. I have had it for about a month now and love it every day. At 33$,it is a steal. The quality and finish is extremely good. When you carry your ipad in this case, it really feels secure and has a real nice grip. It was out of stock as much as the ipad itself. It is definitely better than the Apple’s black case which is a dustmagnet and has a ipad slip in. This one is click-in / click-out. The color is very eligant greyish-beige. I recommend this to anyone.
